Float Therapy

We have a large float pod at, that can fit two people if you want to try a float as a couple. It is also perfect for anyone who wants to use it alone and take advantage of the extra space! Pair your float session with the infrared sauna option to really enhance your experience.

Please note that we do not have childcare facilities and we cannot allow anyone under the age of 13 to float in our pod. We do ask that you do not bring children to the clinic so you and our other clients can relax without distractions.

  • The float pod is an environment that is designed to remove sound and light and allow you to fully immerse yourself in meditation. The pod itself contains roughly 40cm of water that has up to 500kg of Epsom salt (Magnesium Sulphate) added. The salt is dissolved, so the water won’t feel gritty. With this amount of salt, you will be easily able to float on the surface of the water. We recommend you use the pod with the lights and sound off, however you can control these functions should you prefer them on.

  • Magnesium sulphate is a natural sedative and muscle relaxant. Floating in our pod allows your body to absorb the magnesium faster and provide you with many different health benefits that can include:

    • Improved circulation

    • Reduced blood pressure

    • Muscle repair and pain relief

    • Endorphin release – it makes you happy

    • Relaxation to a meditative state

    • Assists with insomnia and sleep disorders when used regularly

    • Assists in achieving a calm state for your mindfulness

  • Disclaimer: We are not health professionals. Please consult your physician before visiting us.

While floating is very safe and encouraged for everyone, there are some health conditions that may preclude you from using a float pod.

    These conditions include:

    • Chemotherapy and Radiation therapy. We require any clients undergoing these treatments wait for a minimum of 4-6 weeks after treatment before using a float pod.

    • Kidney or Liver disorders. These organs are used primarily for detoxification of our bodies, and the magnesium can cause an overload on your kidneys during a float. We wouldn’t say no to you floating in our pod, however we would recommend discussing this with your physician first. We encourage all our clients to drink plenty of water before and after floating.

    • Epilepsy or other conditions that cause seizures. While most seizures are caused by stress, ideally the pod is the perfect space for you. That said, for liability purposes, we have reserved the right not to allow anyone with a seizure disorder to float in our pod.

    • Diabetic clients where there is the use of an insulin pump or glucose monitor. You can use a barrier cream around the port site to prevent irritation from the salt.

    • Severe ear infections and/or the use of grommets. While we provide good quality ear plugs, salt water can be very irritating and even the smallest amount can get past the plug.

    • Claustrophobia and anxiety. Do you get that awful feeling when you enter an MRI or CT scan machine? A float pod can have a similar effect, and for many people this effect would turn them off the idea of floating. We have strategies that can assist you overcome this feeling, so please contact our clinic and we can discuss options to make your float experience enjoyable.

    • Motion sickness. Floating takes away that feeling of steadiness so while this can be an issue, it is easily resolved by reaching out to the sides of the pod and feeling that sense of control. We provide a neck support for floating that allows you to prop your head up out of the water. We recommend leaving the pod lights on if you suffer from motion sickness.

    • Incontinence – we need to keep the pod clean and hygienic, so if you have any bladder leakage issues, we cannot allow you to use our pod.

    • Contact lenses. Salt water can be painful if it is trapped within lenses. For floating, it is recommended that you remove your contacts. We do have a freshwater spray inside the pod should you get any salt water in your eyes.

    • Sensitive skin. While the salt water can be very relieving for some psoriasis and eczema sufferers, it may also have a very painful effect. We recommend trying salt baths at home first to test your tolerance of the salt water before using our pod.

    • Menstruation. We recommend not floating for the first few days of your period and using a tampon or menstrual cup when in the water. Floating is ideal for relieving pre-menstrual tension as the magnesium is a natural muscle relaxant.

    • Pregnancy. Floating is safe and often encouraged by midwives and obstetricians. Does the thought of having the weight of your bump lifted for a little while to give your body a rest sound great?! As with all treatments, please speak to your health professional first.

As with all alternative therapies, you know your body and what you can tolerate. Floating is very safe, and we want our clients to feel relaxed and enjoy their float experience.

  • Some things to consider when attending the clinic

    • Plan your visit and allow plenty of time to arrive. If you are rushed, this may impact on your float.

    • Avoid caffeine and stimulants for 4-6 hours before floating and try and have a light meal 1-2 hours before your float.

    • If you have any minor cuts or abrasions (even paper cuts) we have barrier cream that you can apply to the site and avoid irritation from the salt. If you have stitches or any surgical wounds, please check with your physician to see if it is safe to float. We will require any wounds to be covered with a waterproof dressing.

    • Hair styles and treatments. Have you coloured your hair in the last few days? To avoid damage to your new colour, we recommend waiting until your hair has been washed a few times and you no longer lose any colour when rinsing. This may take longer if you have coloured your hair red, or any other high pigmented dye. Hair extensions should be safe but consult your hair stylist first. The salt should not affect the glue or bindings in your extensions, but we need to be sure, after all, you have spent a lot of time and money on them. Any other treatments where the salt may damage your hair should be given time to settle into your hair before floating.

    • Spray tans or tanning lotions. The best advice we can offer is float before you tan. The strong salt will strip your tan if it contains bronzer.

    • Waxing, threading, or shaving. Please avoid all hair removal processes on the day of your float as the salt water will be irritating and painful.

    • Body modifications. Please wait until your tattoo is fully healed before using our pod. The same applies for tattoo removal. As with most of our advice, please consult your tattoo artist, or removal practitioner before floating. For piercings, wait until they have healed. The salt will irritate the skin around the piercing site, and although we have barrier cream available, it may have an adverse effect on the overall healing of your piercing.

  • Expect to be comfortable in the warm water of our pod. We heat the water to body temperature (36 degrees Celsius) so you can fully immerse yourself into your relaxed state. You can opt for the music to be played, but if you prefer quiet then please let us know prior to you entering the float pod room. The lights in the pod are controlled by you by the light button inside the pod. There is also an assistance button inside the pod, should you need to alert us that you are in distress. We have a spray bottle with fresh water for you to use if you get salt water in your eyes.

There is a neck float available for you to use, and we supply everything – towels, earplugs, barrier creams, shower products and make up remover. It’s entirely up to you how you float, with or without swim wear. The float pod room locks, so you won’t have anyone walk in on you!

We ask that you shower before and after your float, and there is a private bathroom in the pod room. If you need anything else, please ask our helpful staff.
